Valentine’s Day and Half Birthday

I love that Brett’s “half” birthday is on February 14th.  He is 2 1/2 years old today.  That sounds old to me.  Old like my baby isn’t a baby anymore.  Old like when someone in the grocery store asks how old he is, I’ll have to say, “He’s 2 1/2.”  Before, when someone asked, I’d say he’s not even 2 1/2 yet.  That kept him a baby in my mind.  Well, he hasn’t actually “acted” like a baby in a long time.  He’s a motor mouth for sure with a vocabulary as big as a house (including some words we’d rather he didn’t know), he’s a daredevil most of the time, he can “hang” with his big brothers without too much effort, and his potty skills are, well, improving.  That’s been big business in our house recently and I’ll write more on that in a later post.  But, let’s just say that for me 2 1/2 is a milestone date and I’m thrilled that he shares it with Valentine’s Day each year.

Here he is at 6 months, 18 months and now at 2 1/2 all taken on Valentine’s Day:

He actually let me take some photos of him today.  Not many, but some cute ones.  I had to be quick as he got bored with me and my camera after about 10 shots.  But, I’m grateful for those 10 shots!!

He is a super cutie and definitely makes me smile many, many, many times a day.  And he still lets me snuggle him in the rocking chair at night and for that I feel so lucky.

Our Valentine’s Day was nice and filled with lots of old fashioned hand made Valentines.  The boys made beautiful ones for me and Matt all on their own without even being prompted!  I made hand made ones for everyone because I’ve been trapped in this house all week due to the snow!!  But, you know what?  They liked them just as well as store bought ones!  Yay, me!

Matt grilled some very delicious chicken and steak and we had steamed green beans, and bisquits with it.  Best meal I’ve had in ages!  The big boys went to the movies with their grandparents and I’ve been working most of the day but am ready to turn off my computer for the night.  One more day tomorrow with the kids home from school and then back to a routine.    Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Babar - He looks like such a Big Boy! Lila can’t decide if she wants to be a Big Girl or a Baby sometimes. Has to wear underwear and drink from a real cup, but will still snuggle up and say, “My Mama. Me Baby Lila.” Awwwwwww.
